Kamyar came to United Kingdom in 1977 as a foreign student. In 1979, after a major upheaval in his home country of Iran, he decided to permanently immigrate to United Kingdom. He then started what became a very successful career in food and drink industry. However, a decade later when the opportunity arose to study law and help migrants like himself, he did not think twice and took that opportunity. Kamyar founded Katani & Co solicitors in 2008 which is now one of the most successful law firms in the country.

Kamyar puts that success primarily down to very good understanding of what issues concerns a migrant in United Kingdom. Also he sees the experience that he acquired in the business world provides him with a very good insight into the mind of a client and what levels of service a client expects from highly regarded firm.

Kamyar is a member of UK immigration law practitioners association. He is also a member of Royal faculty of Procurators of Glasgow (RPPG) as well as Glasgow Sheriff Court Bar Association.
Kamyar personally conducted the Upper Tribunal highly publicised reported case of Khaliq which successfully questioned ‘whether the rules of the Points Based Scheme for the admission of students achieve any useful purpose.
